ABOUT THE EVENT
As part of the U.S. launch of Odyssey Moscow, Michael Calvey joined Dr. Angela Stent, Director Emerita of CERES, for an in-depth discussion at Georgetown University. Held in the Leavey Program Room, this event drew students, faculty, and international affairs professionals for a candid conversation about Calvey’s book and the geopolitical themes it explores.

The conversation addressed Calvey’s three-decade journey in Russia, the rise and fall of foreign investor optimism, and his personal experience navigating Russia’s legal system. Dr. Stent’s expertise on Russian foreign policy added context and critical insight into the broader U.S.-Russia relationship. Attendees were also invited to a reception following the talk, where informal discussions continued over refreshments.
This event was supported by the Carnegie Corporation of New York.
